What is One Urban Voice?
One of the greatest examples of miseducation is the truth about the term, "Uncle Tom." Although the Left considers 'Uncle Tom' an insult, the real life inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe's 'Uncle Tom's Cabin,' Josiah Henson- was anything but. After escaping to Upper Canada (now Ontario) from slavery in Maryland and Kentucky, Josiah Henson established himself as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, travelling the clandestine network of paths and safehouses in reverse. In his role as conductor, he rescued 118 enslaved people. Being called, "Uncle Tom" is hardly an insult.
For many years, truths such as this have been intentionally downplayed and purposefully ignored in lieu of a narrative triggered in most cases by warped perception and/or an imagined slight. As a result, urban communities all over the nation pursue an ideology of disenfranchisement despite the many societal, political and economic gains by the Black community. It is for these reasons that Black America continues to overwhelmingly murder its own through Black on Black crime(at nearly 8,000 every year) and abortions mostly due to inconvenience(at more than 1,000 every day).
With this in mind, One Urban Voice was created to educate, inform and remind the world that despite the lies and revisionist history that many seek to inject into our society, all it takes to destroy the narrative is One Urban Voice.
